10 Things About 3rd Trimester

With the start of the third trimester of pregnancy, you start counting days for the arrival of the baby. The third trimester of pregnancy begins with the 27th week and ends with the pregnancy. The bump swells up during the third trimester of pregnancy with increased senses of the baby. Here’s a list of 10 things about the third trimester of pregnancy:

  1. Fetal Movements
    During the third trimester of pregnancy, you’ll experience increased foetal movements within your belly similar to poking, kicking or some sort of pain.

  2. Varicose Veins
    With the increased size of the baby bump and increased levels of hormones, spider veins or varicose veins develop from the second trimester and continue throughout the pregnancy journey. It occurs due to the decreased blood flow towards the extremities. Reddish or blue veins appear from underneath the skin during the last trimester of pregnancy.

  3. Breathlessness
    During the final trimester of pregnancy, the expansion of uterus presses the diaphragm which ultimately affects the lungs leading to shortness of breath.

  4. Increased Breast Size
    The size of the breasts will be increased in order to prepare for milk production.

  5. Backache
    With the increased size of the baby, the pelvis and lower back results in a painful feeling. With the excess weight, you’ll feel uncomfortable so avoid sitting for too long. Have frequent massages and avoid wearing heels which might affect your lower back.

  6. Increased Urge to Urinate
    As the size of the baby increased, the pressure over the urinary bladder continues to grow leading to increased urination and sometimes incontinence.

  7. Weight Gain
    During the third trimester of pregnancy, you’ll experience increased weight gain so avoid indulging yourself in unhealthy food cravings. You’ll gain excess weight due to the increased size of the foetus, breasts, amniotic fluid, placenta, along with excess blood flow.

  8. Abdominal Pain
    With the end of the third trimester of pregnancy, abdominal pain is normally experienced by most women. Braxton hick’s contractions or false contractions are also experienced during the third trimester of pregnancy.

  9. Waddling
    With the end of the third trimester, you’ll experience different positions of the baby, with head down or up, and dropping down for the delivery. With the increased weight within the uterus, you’ll start waddling like a duck towards the end of pregnancy.

  10. Swollen Extremities
    With the third trimester of pregnancy in full swing, you’ll experience swollen feet, calves, hands, and ankles because of the fluid retention.
